Helps the Earth, Harms the Earth — Sorting Game, Ages 3–7
Created by My Mega Bundles
Help your young child think carefully about the choices people make every day with this gentle clothespin sorting game. Children ages 3 to 7 pick up each illustrated card and decide — does this help the earth, or harm it? From planting a tree to leaving the tap running, each action invites a rich conversation about stewardship, creation care, and the small things your family can do together. A beautiful, hands-on way to build early critical thinking and vocabulary.
What's Inside
- Two Sorting Earth Circles — A smiling "This Helps Me" earth and a sad "This Harms Me" earth, printed on cardstock
- Illustrated Action Cards — Small illustrations of everyday actions to cut out and attach to wooden clothespins
- Set-Up Guide — Simple instructions for assembling the tray and playing together
How to Play
Print the two earth circles on cardstock and cut them out. Print the action cards, cut them out, and glue each one to a wooden clothespin (or a craft stick). Arrange the clothespins on a tray or in a basket, place the two earth circles above, and invite your child to pick up each clothespin, look at the picture, and clip it to the correct earth. Is planting a tree helpful? What about leaving the tap running?
Some cards — a factory, a lightbulb, a bag of groceries — open deeper conversations about balance and the choices grown-ups make. Use these as gentle openings rather than right-or-wrong answers.
Perfect For
- Earth Day week, environmental science, or morning basket activities for ages 3 to 7
- Montessori sorting trays and Charlotte Mason-style oral narration and discussion
- Building early critical thinking, vocabulary, and a quiet sense of stewardship
- Co-op group activities or faith-based creation care discussions
